About

WeatherHawks began as a personal project by Keith Thompson, a retired airline pilot in Colorado Springs. Keith took a course in Fire Weather during his junior year in college and was hooked. A 45-year career in aviation, where meteorology was critical to safety of operations, cemented his love of all things weather.

Today, Keith is the Volunteer Coordinator for El Paso and Teller Counties in Colorado for the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, and Snow Network (CoCoRaHS), managing almost 500 volunteer weather observers who daily submit weather observations, severe weather reports, and other data used by a myriad of private and public agencies. He also manages the Southcentral Colorado CoCoRaHS Facebook page for CoCoRaHS and the WeatherHawks Facebook page.
